Recovery

We fund activity days, online support, workshops, and summer camps to foster positive social networks and inspire confidence and independence in young people following burn injuries.

The Manchester Paediatric Burns Service at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital recognised that accessing psychological support can be difficult for some children and young people. This could be due to living in remote areas, family circumstances, or the pressures of keeping up with friends and schoolwork.

Online therapy services provide vital psychological support for young people who might otherwise struggle to access it. These services allow video appointments or real-time online chats with specialist psychologists, offering a safe space to discuss worries, share coping strategies, and build resilience and confidence.

Setting up and running this service for two years costs £35,000. When the Manchester Paediatric Burns Service sought our help, we were proud to contribute significantly to this pioneering project. It was the first programme in the UK to offer online therapy specifically for young people with burn injuries, and we were delighted to support it wholeheartedly.
